Children's Sermons 2015-2017
This page provides access to several later "Children's Sermons" from Bethel's services in 2015-2017. The "quality" of some of these recordings is not very good....and they all tended to run a bit longer, rambling a bit, and may have been addressed more for the youth, though there were many younger than in previous years. These also include two "Children's Moments" given by Bubba King (#11,#13).

After listening to these at this late date, I understand the criticism offered by our pastor's husband that the children didn't understand my children's sermons...I took that to heart at the time and stopped delivering these children's sermons. I have to apologize now for not realizing that sooner.

I've provided a brief synopsis of each...just in case it may have been unclear from the presentation.

    What would Christopher Columbus have in his "backpack"....map of world in 1492...Marco Polo...travels of...telescope...didn't make it...ran into the Americas. We're on a similar journey...going to the Kingdom of God...what should we take with us...a Bible...a map, telling us The Way...a traveler's guide...a telescope?...show my childhood Bible...Jesus' words in red...a good map. A gift for them...small red-letter testaments.

    Calendars...recording special days...there are days coming that we know are coming but don't know just when...Jesus told the disciples he would be leaving...but would come back. We have the same promise that he is coming back. We should live our life as preparation for that special day.

    On this day, 2 days before Ground Hog Day, (mention Nita's birthday) talk about the traditions of the Ground Hog's shadow...and daily Horoscopes...because of wanting to know what is going to happen. We can influence what is going to happen...by preparing. Only God knows....but the Bible tells some things. Three rules to follow: 1. Love God 2. Love everybody as you love yourself. 3 Love one another as Jesus has loved us, and the future will come out okay.

    On this Sunday after Valentine's day, a day of "Love", Lent is mentioned as an "Advent for Easter"...then considered a story of the "compassionate" (a kind of love) Buddha his desire to let some ants know that he didn't want to hurt them...and that he would have to become an ant to let them know...God came to us in Jesus to let us know that he loves us.

    On this "rainy" Easter Sunday the talk mentions two Christmases (Santa and Jesus' birth) and two Easters (of Easter Eggs and Jesus' death, resurrection and New Life)...gave each an Easter Egg "Easter Kit" (Piece of clay, bag of dirt with 3 seeds...which will become morning glory flowers...signs of New Life)
