Sixth Sunday after Epiphany

On this Sixth Sunday after Epiphany the Ordinary Time before Lent comes to an end on Tuesday (Mardi Gras). Ash Wednesday then begins the 40-day (46 days with Sundays) Season of Lent. Of course this is Valentine's Day but it is also Transfiguration Sunday (always the 6th Sunday after Epiphany in our Christian Year) near the end of Jesus' Galilean ministry. On this day, in the Gospel reading from Mark, we find God once again affirming Christ's mission, as at his baptism, by saying: "This is my beloved Son; listen to Him!". After this, during the season of Lent, we will follow Jesus as he heads to Jerusalem.

We are also having a service at 11:00 this morning in Bethel's sanctuary. An insert to the bulletin, provided by a link above, presents Bethel UMC's policy regarding these gatherings during the time of COVID-19 restrictions.

There have been continuing expressions of concern for our youth during the prayer requests of Bethel's church service. Tina has prepared a list of youth and a prayer to place before you. We hope you will add this to your own prayers for Bethel at this time.
