Fourth Sunday of Lent
March 27, 2022
Pastor: Ralph Wrightstone Bulletin Insert Photos Music Director: Travis Oaks
On this Fourth Sunday of Lent we find Jesus still teaching, this time in the "Lost and Found Department" in Luke's Gospel where we find the familiar stories of the "Lost Coin", the "Lost Sheep" and the "Lost Son". That last one may be more familiar as the tale of "The Prodigal Son". Today's message on the "Green-Eyed Monster" provides another take on that story.
Today is also UMCOR Sunday, supporting the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief, a humanitarian aid organization operated under the General Board of Global Ministries of the UMC. The UMCOR Sunday offering (previously One Great Hour of Sharing) covers UMCOR's "costs of doing business" so that contributions made to any particular relief efforts will go 100% directly for that cause.

Looking Back It has been 2 years since another Fourth Sunday of Lent, on March 22,2020, when Bethel held its last formal church service before having to discontinue all gatherings because of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Although these "online" services began on March 29,2020 and pastor Ralph continued to open the doors to informal gatherings of 4-6 worshipers each Sunday, it was not until May 3,2020 that formally announced services returned with open-air, "socially distanced" gatherings. Finally, in-church services returned on May 31,2020, appropriately on Pentecost Sunday. You can follow the church services since then in the photo album opened by a link at the top of this page. Until now these followed a Covid Policy that requested protective masks be worn by nearly all present. Now, under the policy presented last week face masks are no longer suggested for nearly all attending. Let us all rejoice for this new beginning.
We are also having a service at 11:00 this morning in Bethel's sanctuary. An insert to the bulletin, provided by a link above, presents Bethel UMC's policy regarding these gatherings during the time of COVID-19 restrictions.
:
For those unable to attend the services at the church, a new service will be available here online before 10:00 am each Sunday morning, using the same format as the on-site service. So you may "gather" here for an "Early Service" at 10:00 or the traditional service at 11:00...actually it will be available here at any time all week. We hope that you will find it a refreshing place to come into God's house.
NOTE: Each part of this online service consists of an audio file and, for most, a Link to a pdf file of "projection slides". Click on the symbol to play the audio file under a separate browser tab or in a new window. Then select the "Bethel 03/27/22 Service" browser tab or return to this window to open the Link to the "slides". It is best to stop the playing of one Audio segment and close its tab or window before starting another. We hope that you will fully participate in the service provided here, taking the time to raise your voice or read along with the hymns and responses, and listening to the recorded messages and songs that have been prepared for you. Realize that, though not meeting face-to-face, you are virtually gathering with many others for this time of worship, celebration and spiritual refreshment.
