This Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, comes on the Third Sunday of October, a date on the UMC Calendar that has been designated Laity Sunday, recognizing the importance of the non-clerical members of Christ's church in the establishment and continuing effectiveness of the Methodist movement. The title of today's message, "First Responder", brings to mind the importance of those who are first to respond in moments of emergency, especially those whose chosen profession places them in the forefront of relief efforts. In times of social or spiritual crises, it is common to look to Ministers of the church to be the 'first responders' but John Wesley called upon the Laity to faithfully respond to such needs.

In the church service today Travis will be inviting some of the youth that he and Tina have been meeting with on Wednesday evenings to come listen to Manny Arisso, a representative of "Victory for Youth" and "Share Your Heart", speak about those outreach opportunities. Today it is important to seek and recognise the youth as active members of the church Laity.

for links to some Resource materials for today's service.

NOTE: Each part of this online service consists of an audio file and, for most, a Link to a pdf file of "projection slides". Click on the symbol to play the audio file under a separate browser tab or in a new window. Then select the "Bethel 10/16/22 Service" browser tab or return to this window to open the Link to the "slides". It is best to stop the playing of one Audio segment and close its tab or window before starting another.

We hope that you will fully participate in the service provided here, taking the time to raise your voice or read along with the hymns and responses, and listening to the recorded messages and songs that have been prepared for you. Realize that, though not meeting face-to-face, you are virtually gathering with many others for this time of worship, celebration and spiritual refreshment.
